The Spiritual Journey Behind the Book

The Search for Truth

“My spiritual journey began with questions that could not be answered by appearances alone. What is the purpose of human existence? What does it mean to know God rather than simply believe in Him? How does one distinguish truth from illusion, and what happens when faith becomes a lived reality?”

Ata Nabawi

IThe Awakening

The Wake-Up Call

Remembering my uncle, Darryl Wayne Roberts, compelled me to examine these questions more deeply. His life, our family's experiences, and the dreams through which I continued to encounter his memory became part of a personal inquiry into the nature of the soul, the unseen world, and the Friends of God.

Grief has a way of stripping life down to its essentials. In the space Darryl left behind, the questions I had carried quietly for years became impossible to ignore.

IIKnowledge

A Quest for Knowledge and Certainty

That inquiry led me toward the Qur'an, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and the Islamic sciences that illuminate the relationship between outward practice and inward transformation. I wanted more than inherited answers. I wanted certainty, the kind of knowing the tradition calls yaqin.

IIIThe Path

The Search for the Friends of God

My search brought me to Tasawwuf: the purification of the heart, the discipline of divine remembrance, and the long tradition of men and women whose lives were transformed by nearness to God. In the concept of Wilaya, I found a language for something I had witnessed but could not yet name.

IVThe Unseen

Dreams, Memory, and Meaning

My experiences concerning Darryl shaped the questions this book pursues. I share them as lived testimony, with conviction but also with humility, distinguishing what I experienced from doctrinal conclusions that belong to the scholars.

VThe Work

From Personal Inquiry to Published Work

This book is the result of that search. It is a personal testimony, an exploration of Islamic spirituality, and an invitation to seek truth with sincerity, humility, and an open heart. It is also a gift to my family and, I pray, to every reader who has wondered whether the Friends of God still walk among us.

The journey begins with knowledge, develops through practice, and matures through the refinement of the heart.
